Privacy Policy

What Space Dots and AI stores, why it stores it, and what never leaves your device. This policy covers the Space Dots and AI iOS app, published by Spacechat LLC.
The short version
- No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no trackers, no data brokers.
- We do not sell personal data, and never have.
- You can look around and customize without an account; an account is needed for the dots to do their work and to buy.
- Your folders, files and project history stay on your device. What you ask the dots, and the files they read to do it, are sent to be answered.
- Your progress stays on your device unless you sign in with a Spacechat account that has server storage.
- We never see your payment details — Apple handles every purchase.
1. What we collect
| Data | When | Stored | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your settings, Points, purchases, the looks you picked, your dots and your handle | As you use the app | On your device | So the app remembers where you were |
| Apple user identifier, and your name once | If you sign in with Apple | On your device | To keep you signed in and name your dot |
| Spacechat recovery phrase | If you sign in with a phrase | Device Keychain, marked so it is excluded from iCloud and iTunes backups | To restore your session without retyping it |
| Spacechat account id, username, session token | If you sign in with a phrase | Device Keychain and Spacechat servers | To authenticate you for Messages and Spacechat AI |
| What you ask your dots to do, the name and idea of a project, and the conversation between the dots | When you give a team a job | Sent to Spacechat servers to be answered; the project and its history are kept on your device | So the dots can reply and work together |
| Text from files in a folder a team is working in — only the files a dot reads or edits | When a dot reads or edits a file | Sent with the request to Spacechat servers; the files themselves stay on your device | So the dot can read what it is editing |
| Folders, files, projects, teams and how your dots are connected | As you use the app | On your device | So your work is there when you come back |
| Messages you send in Spacechat, if you use that feature | Only when you use it | Spacechat servers | To deliver them |
| Purchase entitlements | If you buy something | Apple; read back by the app | To know what you own — Premium, dot styles, universes, Customize — and to restore purchases |
We do not collect your email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, device advertising identifier, or browsing activity. The camera is used only when you choose to scan a Spacechat profile QR code; frames are processed on your device and are never uploaded or stored.
2. Accounts, and using the app without one
You can look around Space Dots and AI and set up your dots with no account. Signing in is required to make a purchase — so it can be restored later — and for dots to do their work, which needs a Spacechat account to address the request to.
A Spacechat account is a recovery phrase rather than an email address or phone number. That phrase is the account: anyone holding it can sign in as you, and nobody — including us — can reissue it if it is lost. It is held in your device’s Keychain, marked device-only so it cannot travel in a backup, and removed entirely when you sign out.
3. Cloud save
Progress stays on your device by default. If you sign in with a Spacechat account that has server storage, your profile is written into your own Spacechat account database when the app closes, so it follows you between devices. Accounts without server storage keep everything locally, and the app says so in Settings rather than failing quietly.
4. Sharing
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. Data reaches only:
- Spacechat (Spacechat LLC) — authentication, answering what you ask your dots, Messages, cloud save.
- AI model providers — to write a dot’s reply, Spacechat passes the request (your instruction, the conversation so far, and any file text a dot read) to the language model it runs, which may be a model Spacechat operates or a third-party model service such as OpenRouter. We do not use these requests to train models, and a third-party provider handles them under its own terms.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and all purchases and subscriptions, governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.
We may disclose information where legally required, or where necessary to protect the safety of a person or the integrity of the service.
5. Retention and deletion
Everything held on your device — including your folders, files and projects — is removed when you delete the app. Signing out removes your recovery phrase and session from the device. To delete a Spacechat account and the data held against it, contact us below.
6. Children
Space Dots and AI is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
Traffic to Spacechat is over HTTPS. Credentials are held in the iOS Keychain rather than plain storage, marked so they do not leave the device in a backup. No system is risk-free, but we do not collect data we do not need, which is the most reliable protection available.
8. Your rights
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and withdraw consent by signing out or deleting the app. Depending where you live you may have further rights under the GDPR or CCPA; we apply these to everyone rather than by region.
9. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and note the change in the app. Continuing to use Space Dots and AI after a change means accepting the updated policy.
