Random Voice Chat and Private Calls: A Practical Safety Guide

A voice conversation can feel more immediate than text, but it also reveals your voice and background sounds. Before meeting someone new online, decide what you want to share, check the available controls, and make sure you can leave. This guide covers preparation, privacy and the distinction between random matching and a direct private call.

Random matching and direct calls are different

Random matching introduces you to someone you have not chosen. A direct call starts from a known conversation or profile. Availability and controls vary by app and device. In Spacechat, start from the person’s conversation and use the available call control; do not assume that a stranger-matching feature is available on every platform.

Before you allow microphone access

Use the official website or app, review its age requirements and community rules, and choose a quiet place. Read the browser or device permission prompt before allowing microphone access. Headphones can reduce echo and keep the other person’s audio away from people nearby. Keep camera access off when you only intend to use voice.

Choose what the other person can learn

Your voice, surroundings and anything you say can identify you. Avoid sharing your address, school, workplace, passwords, recovery phrase or financial information. Account signup without a phone number does not make a conversation untraceable. The other person may record audio outside the app; do not assume that a call cannot be copied.

Keep control during the conversation

Locate mute and end-call controls before speaking. If someone pressures you, sends unwanted content or asks for money or account credentials, end the interaction. Use the app’s block or report options where available. A friendly profile or a short preview is not proof of someone’s identity.

If a call will not connect

Check that microphone permission is enabled for the correct site or app, that your input device is selected and that another application is not using it. Try a stable network and updated browser. If the call still fails, use text instead and contact support with the device, browser and a description of the problem, without sending private conversation content.

Continue at your own pace

Move from text to voice only when both people want to. You can decline or leave without giving a reason. Read Spacechat’s Privacy Policy and account guidance before choosing browser or cloud storage; message storage choices do not by themselves establish how live call media is handled.
